OIC meets in Istanbul amid rising Israel-Iran tensions; Erdogan calls for unity

ISTANBUL: Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan has said that Netanyahu wants to push the entire region towards destruction, so the unity of Muslims is the need of the hour, and it is time to put aside their differences and unite.

Addressing the OIC Foreign Ministers’ Special Meeting, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said that Israel is attacking Palestinians in Gaza and is continuously destabilizing the region.

He said that the Netanyahu government is the biggest obstacle to peace in the region. Israel has attacked Iran after its aggression on Yemen, Libya, and Syria.

We condemn Israel’s aggression on Iran, and the Turkish people stand with our Iranian brothers and sisters.

Tayyip Erdogan said that the region must be saved from further destruction, and the international community must play its role in stopping Israeli aggression.

The region is heading towards destruction due to Israeli attacks, so the increasing tension between Israel and Iran must be stopped.

The Turkish President further said that Israel wants to establish its dominance in the entire region, and Israel’s hands are stained with the blood of Muslims.

Netanyahu wants to spread this war throughout the region. The solution to this problem lies in diplomacy and negotiations; our region cannot tolerate any more war or instability.

Tayyip Erdogan also demanded a two-state solution for Palestine.

2-day OIC meeting

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s foreign ministers are holding a 2-day meeting in Turkey, in which Israeli aggression against Iran is at the top of the agenda.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi is participating in the OIC meeting, while more than 40 diplomats from different countries are participating in the meeting. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar is representing Pakistan in the meeting.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi sat together in the OIC meeting.

The current situation in Iran is being reviewed at the OIC Foreign Ministers’ meeting. Ishaq Dar will present Pakistan’s position in the meeting.

The OIC meeting will have a special session on the Israeli attacks on Gaza and the Iran-Israel conflict.

Secretary-General’s address

Secretary General of the OIC, Hussein Ibrahim Taha, while addressing the meeting, said that the OIC is the second largest organization in the world.

He said that a peaceful solution to the Iran-Israel conflict should be found. We condemn the Israeli attack on Iran, the Israeli aggression on Iran and Gaza is unacceptable, and the war between Israel and Iran must end.

The Secretary General of the OIC said that, according to UN resolutions, every country has the right to self-defense, a solution to disputes should be found through negotiations, and in the current circumstances, unity among Muslims is inevitable.

Right to defend oneself: Iranian Foreign Minister

Ahead of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation meeting in Istanbul, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said that Iran has the right to defend itself against Israeli aggression. Israel attacked Iran two days before the talks on June 15. The Israeli attack clearly shows that it is against diplomacy.
