ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will leave for Geneva today, Saturday, to attend the signing ceremony of the US-Iran Memorandum of Understanding.
A high-level delegation led by the Prime Minister will go to Geneva, and Shahbaz Sharif will attend the ceremony related to the US-Iran understanding.
Before this development, the Prime Minister announced that a final decision had been taken on the peace agreement between the US and Iran.
In his statement released on the social media platform X, Shahbaz Sharif said that Pakistan is now working with the parties to finalize the next steps, and peace has never been closer than now.
He said that he is aware of the efforts of those who sabotage the peace agreement amid Pakistan’s mediation efforts, and is fully aware of the misinformation campaign to sabotage the peace agreement.
It should be noted that earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi had said in his statement released on X that the Islamabad MoU is in the final stages.
Abbas Araqchi had said that until the agreement is completed, the media is requested not to speculate on the contents; all details will be brought to the public under a responsible and transparent policy.
The aforementioned statement of the Iranian Foreign Minister was shared by US President Donald Trump on his social media platform Truth Social.
Before Abbas Araqchi’s statement, US Vice President JD Vance had said that he was seeing a lot of false and misleading information about the possible agreement.
JD Vance said that no funds are being released in exchange for signing the agreement or attending any meeting. The agreement was drawn up by prioritizing the concerns of the US and its allies.
He said that if Iran fulfills its responsibilities, then the entire region will receive economic benefits. The agreement has the potential to completely change the situation in the region and bring lasting peace.
‘I have also noted some strange things in the reporting over the past few hours. People are criticizing the agreement based on unconfirmed media reports. Under the leadership of President Donald Trump, the agreement will yield good results in any way.
