LAHORE: Motorway police seized 2,000 kilograms of unsanitary meat after intercepting two suspicious vans during a routine patrol near Rawalpindi, here on Wednesday.
According to a Motorway Police spokesperson, the vehicles were stopped for inspection after officers noticed irregularities in their movement. Upon checking, a large quantity of meat was discovered, which was later confirmed by the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) to be unfit for human consumption and potentially hazardous to public health.
The suspects were immediately handed over to the PFA authorities in Rawalpindi for further legal action. The authorities confirmed that the seized meat was safely disposed of, and an investigation is underway.
Thanks to the timely intervention of the Motorway Police, a large quantity of contaminated meat was prevented from reaching the market, potentially averting a serious public health threat.
