Dengue fever surges in Rawalpindi, 95 new cases reported in 24 hours

RAWALPINDI: Dengue fever is spreading rapidly in Rawalpindi, Punjab, with 95 new cases reported in the last 24 hours, making it the highest single-day count so far.

This brings the total number of cases to 2,736 since January 2024. Currently, 229 patients are receiving treatment in various hospitals, and unfortunately, six deaths have been reported this year.

The surge isn’t limited to Rawalpindi; Punjab as a whole has seen a significant rise, with 997 new cases identified in the past week, bringing the total to 3,285 cases in 2024.

To combat the outbreak, the health department has ensured that necessary arrangements are in place, including adequate medicine stocks in public hospitals.
