PESHAWAR: Two new cases of polio have been recorded in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Tuesday.
The newly infected children belong to the Tank district and North Waziristan, according to the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC).
The total number has reached yo 23 this year, with KPK leading the tally.
The NEOC has called the present situation “alarming,” citing the virus’s continuing spread in high-risk locations.
Officials say southern KP remains the hub of polio cases, making eradication operations more challenging.
To combat the mounting threat, a new anti-polio vaccine campaign will be started throughout Pakistan next month.
Authorities are pushing parents to guarantee that every kid under five receives drops.
Earlier, NEOC reported one case of polio from Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) each, tally reaches 21 during this year.
Pakistan will start a new anti-polio campaign from September 1, 2025, to eradicate polio cases from the country.
The fresh cases were reported from the Lower Dir area of district Kohistan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Badin area of Sindh.
The NEOC urged parents to give their children the polio vaccination to guarantee a bright future and to finish the injection course on time.
