Pakistan Prioritizes Global Standards and Digitization in Health Systems, Acknowledges Collaboration with China

Islamabad, Caretaker Federal Minister of National Health and Services Dr. Nadeem Jan has highlighted the significant strides made in Pakistan’s health sector during a special interview with China Media Group Urdu Service.

Dr. Nadeem Jan emphasized the nation’s commitment to becoming polio-free by 2030, acknowledging the sacrifices made by governments and organizations in this endeavor. He also addressed the prevalence of diabetes in Pakistan, stressing the comprehensive approach taken to tackle this global health concern.

The minister underscored the importance of aligning with global standards in governance and service delivery to enhance health systems. A key focus is placed on digitization, with plans to establish 600 operational primary health centers nationwide. Dr. Nadeem Jan expressed gratitude for the support and collaboration with China, leveraging its experience and infrastructure to benefit Pakistan’s health system.

Reflecting on the challenges faced, including combating terrorism, floods, and the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Nadeem Jan called upon the international community to support Pakistan in achieving food security and controlling epidemics. He urged fairness in global values, particularly in the delivery and distribution of vaccines, emphasizing the need to prioritize necessity over economic gain.

Addressing the worldwide surge in epidemics, the minister advocated for the establishment of a global pandemic financing mechanism for developing countries. Dr. Nadeem Jan, in his role as the caretaker Federal Minister, initiated a comprehensive consultation process involving experts to improve governance and services in the health sector. This process aims to bring transparency and accountability to various aspects, including postings, transfers, and training trips to foreign countries.
