A 7-day anti-polio campaign has started across Sindh from today

A 7-day polio campaign will be started from today across Sindh, during the campaign, more than one crore children will be given polio vaccinations in Sindh.

The spokesperson of Sindh Health Department said that a 7-day anti-polio campaign will be started from today across Sindh including Karachi.

More than 80,000 polio workers and supervisors will participate in the anti-polio campaign that will begin in 30 districts of Sindh from November 27, while more than 5,300 police personnel will be deployed in the field for the security of the polio workers.

A total of 5 cases of polio were reported in Pakistan this year, in which three cases were reported from Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while two cases were reported from Karachi East district of Sindh.

According to the spokesman, several positive environmental samples of polio virus have been reported in Karachi in the last two months, the repeated appearance of positive environmental samples is a matter of concern.

The Sindh Health Department has issued instructions that parents should get their children vaccinated against polio for the complete eradication of the polio virus.

Through vaccination, children can be protected from the deadly and disabling polio virus.
