Red Onions declared natural summer shield by nutritionists

ISLAMABAD: In summer, nutritionists have declared red onions as a beneficial and natural protective food for the body.

According to experts, the antioxidants, flavonoids, minerals and adequate amount of water present in red onions play an important role in protecting the body from the harmful effects of heat.

Research experts say that red onions can help maintain the balance of water and salts in the body, improve the digestive system and balance blood circulation. It is also useful in reducing the stress and fatigue caused by heat.

Nutritionists have advised that red onions can be included in the daily diet in the form of salad, raita, yogurt or sauce to provide additional protection to the body during the summer season.

Experts have said that people with stomach sensitivity, acidity or digestive problems should consume red onions in moderation.

According to experts, although red onions are not a complete cure for heat stroke, they can be beneficial as an effective natural food supplement during extreme heat.
