LAHORE: The University of Health Sciences (UHS) Academic Council has announced the summer vacation schedule for health institutions affiliated with it, such as medical and dental colleges within Punjab.
This development comes after a meeting presided over by UHS Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Ahsan Waheed Rathore. According to the details, First-year MBBS students will be on holiday from July 28 to August 4.
The second and third-year MBBS students will enjoy summer vacations from June 5 to June 19, whereas fourth- and final-year students will be on holiday from June 5 to June 26.
Additionally, second, third, and final-year students of BDS will enjoy holidays from June 5 to June 26. BDS first-year students, whose academic year started late, will have July 1 to July 10 off.
Students pursuing Allied Health Sciences, Pharmacy, and Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) courses will have summer vacations from June 6 to June 26.
The council further permitted medical, dental colleges, and other institutions of health education to provide electives and summer school programs in clinical sciences, research, public health, simulation, and skills lab during the summer recess.
The council also approved the creation of a faculty registration portal and instructed all affiliated institutions to have their teaching staff registered by July 1. Only registered staff will be considered for appointments as examiners, paper setters, and reviewers.
The council also sanctioned the academic calendars of MBBS, BDS, BS Nursing, Allied Health Sciences, and Pharmacy, and the structure for undergraduate examiners‘ appointments for the academic year 2024–25.
