4.5 magnitude earthquake hits Gilgit-Baltistan

Earthquake tremors were felt in Gahkoch city of Ghizer district of Gilgit-Baltistan and its surroundings in the wee hours of Feb 17 (Saturday).

According to the Seismological Center, the magnitude of the earthquake was recorded at 4.5 on the Richter scale and the depth was 102 km. No major damage or casualties have been reported so far.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the epicenter of the earthquake was located along the border regions of Afghanistan and Tajikistan.
