LAHORE– Tuesday’s PML-N presidential candidate, Nawaz Sharif, who is vying for a record-breaking fourth term as prime minister, led the party to victory.

Shehbaz Sharif, the party’s leader, called the February 8 elections the most significant in Pakistan’s history.

After winning the 2013 elections, he enumerated the accomplishments of the previous Nawaz government, including the restoration of peace in Karachi and the end of lengthy power outages.

Shehbaz stated that Nawaz was the one who addressed the threat posed by terrorism, and that people were still aware of the development projects that were completed throughout Pakistan during that time.

Addressing the party’s parliamentary board meeting at his party’s Model Town headquarters, the PML-N President stressed that no development and prosperity without political stability in the country.

He said that the return of the PML-N supremo had given the party’s workers, supporters, and voters new life. Both senior leaders and the general populace had called for this move, particularly in light of the coalition government’s dismal performance.

The PML-N parliamentary board conducted interviews with candidates from the Peshawar, Kohat, and Dera Ismail Khan divisions on Tuesday in order to select the candidates for the national and provincial assemblies in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Interviews with prospective candidates from Malakand and Hazara were already finished earlier. But in the midst of fierce internal lobbying and concerns about potential seat adjustments in the province, no names have been revealed as of yet.

But Khyber Pakhtunkhwa isn’t an exception as the PML-N hasn’t so far shared the names of party ticket holders from any part of the country

An earlier report had revealed that there was a deadlock in the ongoing talks as the JUI-F, PML-N, PPP and ANP are manoeuvring for a maximum share of national and provincial seats, especially in Peshawar valley – the most populated region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
