Afghan National’s Deportation is halted by LHC

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) issued an order on Monday to halt Saddam Hussain’s potential deportation, marking a significant legal development.

The ruling was made in response to a petition that the Afghan national’s wife, Fauzia Muhammad, had filed to stop her husband’s impending deportation.

Born in Pakistan, Fauzia Muhammad has been married to Saddam Hussain for a period of six years.

Hussain received a call from the police telling him to leave Pakistan, which coincided with the official policy of sending Afghan nationals living in the nation back to their country of origin.

This call prompted the court to intervene.

It is important to remember that Pakistan does not grant birthright citizenship to Afghan nationals. Saddam Hussain has applied to become a citizen through the Ministry of Interior, despite being married to a Pakistani national.

His application is still pending.

The case’s judge, A. B. Najafi, made a significant move when he stopped the federal government from deporting Fauzia Muhammad’s husband.

As Hussain is waiting on the Ministry of Interior to decide on his citizenship application, Justice Najafi has demanded a response by December 21st from the federal government and other pertinent authorities.

This legal development adds a layer of significance to the ongoing legal proceedings by highlighting the complexities surrounding the status of Afghan nationals in Pakistan and the judicial scrutiny of deportation policies.
