As the province is engulfed in a cold wave, Sindh announces new school hours

All Sindh schools will open at 8:30 a.m.; the new schedule will be in effect through January 31.

Due to the noticeable drop in temperature, the Sindh government announced on Friday that school timings would be changing throughout the province.

The Sindh Education and Literacy Department has announced that starting at 8:30 a.m., all government and private schools in the province will be open.

The notification stated that the decision was made in light of the current severe cold wave in the province and that the new timings would be in effect until January 31, 2024.

The announcement was made just as classes in Sindh’s schools began again on January 1 following a 10-day winter break that began on December 22, 2023.

April 15, 2024, is when Sindh’s public and private schools and colleges will open for the new academic year. On August 1, 2024, colleges will open for classes.

Not only is Sindh enduring extreme cold, but the government of Punjab has decided to extend the winter break for both public and private schools until January 9 due to the severe weather.

On January 10, Punjab schools will reopen with stringent policies prohibiting the wearing of face masks on school property.
