Islamabad: The former president and Pakistan’s Peoples Party leader Asif Ali Zardari who was taken into custody by National Accountability Bureau (NAB)  on June 10 is to remain in NAB custody till July 2. This follows the today’s decision of the Accountability court which extended his physical remand for another 11 days on his production before the judge today after expiry of his previous remand in fake bank accounts case.

An anti-graft team presented the former president before accountability Judge Arshad Malik. As the proceedings went underway, the bureau requested a 14-day extension in Zardari’s physical remand.

The accountability judge Mohammad Arshad Malik had previously granted the NAB, physical remand of Mr. Zardari following his arrest and ordered that he should be presented again on June 21 before the court.

The PPP co-chairman was arrested by the NAB after Islamabad High Court  dismissed his bail plea.

The court has formally asked the anti-graft body to present the accused again on July 2, as reported by the daily Ausaf news.
