Biden, Trump secure their parties’ presidential nominations

After winning the Georgia primary and accumulating the 1,968 delegates required to secure the nomination, President Joe Biden has emerged as the presumed Democratic nominee for the 2024 presidential election. Conversely, Donald Trump, the former president, is facing several legal challenges.

With wins in national primaries and caucuses, Biden’s route to the nomination has been consistent. If Donald Trump wins in Georgia on Tuesday night, he is also anticipated to receive the party’s nominee. It will be the first presidential race between two presidents since 1956 with the next election. Additionally, Trump will secure the candidacy of his party. But he has a number of obstacles to overcome.

At the party’s national convention this summer, Trump needs 1,215 delegates to secure the Republican nominee. He is currently 137 delegates shy of that total.
