ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court heard the case of providing details of the cases filed against Late Arshad Sharif, Sami Ibrahim, and Imran Riaz today.

The Interior Ministry failed to submit a complete report of the cases filed against journalists across the country.

Justice Mohsin expressed anger over the non-submission of the report. During the hearing, he asked, How difficult is it to get a report?

The Assistant Attorney General replied, “I have written to IG Sindh, but the report has not come yet.”

“You are saying that the IG Sindh is not reporting on the request of the Ministry of Interior. It has been two years since this case started, today is the 15th hearing”, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani remarked.

Justice Mohsin added, “We are not asking any other country for information that they are not giving. The question is the same, how can more cases be registered in the same crime? Some cases of Attock, Chakwal, Sargodha, and Khushab against journalists have been canceled.”

The judge emphasized how can more cases be registered for the same crime.

In response, the Assistant Attorney General said if something happened in different places on different dates, the same type of crime would not be considered.

If there is a question of defaming an institution, will there be a case within the office of the institution? Court inquired.

“If there is an FIR in Pishin, the investigation officer will have to record the statement of those people of the concerned institution”, Court remarked.

There is no need for his statement, it is admitted, the Assistant Attorney General said.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani questioned that if the statement is not a record of the concerned persons of that institution, how will the case be made?

Furthermore, during the hearing, the Judge argued that the place from which the vlog was uploaded would be considered as a crime or a case can be registered anywhere. The court will solve this matter forever,

Justice Mohsin ordered the Islamabad High Court to appoint judicial assistants in this case.

Later, the Court adjourned the hearing of the case till April 24.
