CJP calls full court meeting over IHC judges’ letter about agencies interference

ISLAMABAD: The Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Fae Isa Wednesday called a full court meeting over the issue of the letter written by six judges of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) mentioning the interference of intelligence agencies in judicial matters.

CJP Qazi Faez Isa also consulted Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP) Mansoor Usman in this regard, after which a full court meeting was called.

The full court meeting headed by the Chief Justice will be held shortly.

After the meeting, in a conversation with journalists, the Attorney General said that the issue of the judges’ letter is serious and should be investigated.

On March 26, six judges from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) wrote a letter to the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) regarding interference by intelligence agencies in judicial cases. The letter, sent by the judges, aims to draw attention to the infiltration of secret agencies into the judiciary and the undue influence exerted on judges.

The judges who penned the letter include Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri, Justice Babar Sattar, Justice Sardar Ajaz Issa, Justice Arbab Muhammad Taher, and Justice Samina Rauf Atiq.
