COAS Asim Munir, MBS discuss defence, Pak-Saudi military cooperation

RIYADH: Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Syed Asim Munir visited the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) on an official visit, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on Wednesday.

According to the military’s media wing, the Army Chief during his visit to the Kingdom called on The Crown Prince and Prime Minister of KSA, Mohammad bin Salman. Both sides discussed a wide range of issues of mutual interest, including regional peace and security, and bilateral defence & security cooperation.

Defence Minister of KSA General Fayyadh Bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili, Chief of General Staff (CGS) Saudi Armed Forces and Engineer Talal Abdullah Al Otaibi, Assistant Minister of Defence of KSA and other senior military leadership attended the meeting, ISPR said in a press release.

Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf Al-Maliki, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Ahmed Farooq, and other senior officials were also present in the meeting.

Prince Mohammad Bin Salman highlighted that KSA and Pakistan have historic brotherly and strong relations, and both countries have always stood up for each other, it added. The Crown Prince also expressed the desire to further strengthen the bilateral ties between both Muslim countries and that ensured that KSA will always stand with Pakistan in the future as well.

COAS thanked the Saudi leadership for the warm sentiments and support for Pakistan, the statement reads.
