LAHORE: The public is confused as a result of recent reports making the rounds on social media about Punjab schools and colleges extending their winter breaks.
It is crucial to make clear that the material that is being extensively disseminated relates to a December 2022 notification from the Lahore High Court (LHC), and as of right now, there is no proof of a comparable extension for 2023.
The Lahore High Court (LHC) extended winter vacations because of the prevailing smog and fog conditions, according to reports, in a succinct order issued the day before.
Justice Shahid Karim directed the Punjab Education Department to formally announce the extension of winter vacations in a detailed two-page written directive.
It was stated clearly in the written order that all educational institutions, including colleges and schools, are covered by this extension.

But it turns out that the confusion originated with a notice issued by the Lahore High Court on December 28, 2022, announcing the extension of holidays.
Unfortunately, misinformation on social media and news sites falsely claims that the notification is for 2023.
As of this Friday, December 29, 5:30 AM, there is still no word on whether Punjab schools will have longer holidays in 2023.
The public should be aware that an official notification will be issued and made public if Punjabi authorities decide to extend winter breaks for schools and colleges in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Faisalabad, and other cities.

There hasn’t been any formal confirmation of an extension for the academic year 2023 up until that point.
It is advised to rely on official announcements from the relevant authorities for accurate and current information and to stay away from the dissemination of potentially false information on social media platforms.
