Regarding the Awami National Party (ANP) intra-party elections, the ECP has not yet made a decision.

The Election Commission has received a request from ANP for an extension to hold intra-party elections.

The commission had turned down the ANP’s petition for a six-month period for conduct of iintra-party elections, with the Chief Election Commissioner offering a strong signal that ANP will not be allowed to contest the 2019 general election with its poll symbol.

In assigning the ANP’s laltain electoral symbol on Saturday, the Election Commission decided to postpone the party’s internal elections until May 10.

The ECP is scheduled to distribute electoral symbols to candidates preparing for the next general elections on Saturday.

The ECP has sent out a list with 145 symbols to be distributed to candidates from different political organizations. There is also a different list designated for independent candidates.
