The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani will arrive in Islamabad today on a two-day official state visit.

He is visiting Pakistan after a break of over four years. His last visit to the capital was in March of 2015.

‘He is visiting Pakistan on June 22-23 on the official invitation of Prime Minister Imran Khan’, a Foreign Office statement said on Friday.

He will be accompanied by a high level delegation comprising key ministers and senior officials of his cabinet, read the statement.

The Qatari leader will hold talks with Prime Minister Imran Khan and will also meet President Arif Alvi.

During his stay in Islamabad, the Emir shall hold talks with the President Arif Alvi to “discuss ways and means of building a robust and mutually beneficial economic partnership”.

The officials claimed earlier that the Qatari Emir is likely to announce major investment in Pakistan, which was encouraged and persuaded by the PM Imran Khan, during his current visit.

Several MOUs and agreements “for enhanced bilateral cooperation in different areas” are expected to be signed between Islamabad and Doha.

The PM Imran Khan previously visited Qatar in January.
