Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) is all set to form the next government in the province for the record fourth consecutive time as the party is expected to bring the total seat strength to over 100 for the first time with the inclusion of reserved seats.
Out of the total 130 general seats, 28 were won by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), whereas 14 seats were secured by independent candidates supported by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Furthermore, Jamaat-e-Islami and the Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) bagged two, two seats from Sindh in the February 8 polls.
Additionally, PPP secured 26 reserved seats. Similarly, eight reserved seats were allotted to the MQM-P as per their numbers in the assembly.
In another development, the PTI, JI, and GDA reached a consensus to start a “joint struggle” against the large-scale “rigging” that occurred in the recently held elections, in which they rejected the election results.
The parties also decided that protest demonstrations would be organized throughout the province on the day the inaugural session of the Sindh Assembly is scheduled to be held.
