WASHINGTON: The General Munir has urged Guterres to’mobilize international community for immediate cessation of hostilities in Gaza’.

In a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Saturday, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s position on the Palestinian issue during his meeting with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

In order to stop the humanitarian catastrophe from occurring, the army chief implored the UNSG to “mobilize the international community for immediate cessation of hostilities in Gaza” during their meeting. General Munir emphasized that a two-state solution is possible to address the problem.

“COAS particularly shared deep concerns over the plight of the innocent civilians who are being brutally targeted and are not being provided with sufficient humanitarian relief.”

“Peace in South Asia will remain elusive until a peaceful solution to the long-standing Kashmir dispute is found in accordance with UNSC resolutions and the aspirations of Kashmiri people,” the army chief said, bringing up the subject of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

The military’s media wing also stated that General Munir denounced India’s illegal and unilateral attempts to alter the status of the disputed region, citing resolutions from the UN Security Council.

Upon the COAS’s arrival at UN Headquarters in New York, the UNSG extended a hearty greeting and expressed gratitude for the Pakistan Army’s and law enforcement contingents’ contributions to preserving world peace and stability.

According to ISPR, the army chief reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the UN in all of its endeavors.

During his current visit to the US, General Asim Munir has made calls to a number of important US government and military figures, including US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Charles Q. Brown, Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken, Secretary of Defense General (retd) Lloyd J. Austin, Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland, and Deputy National Security Adviser Jonathan Finer.

The ISPR claims that topics of mutual interest, issues pertaining to regional and international security, and ongoing conflicts were discussed at the meetings.
