Kakar appears before court in Baloch students case

ISLAMABAD: Anwaarul Haq Kakar, the acting prime minister, notified the Islamabad High Court on Wednesday that armed people are battling to establish a new state in Balochistan.
The prime minister said this while appearing before the high court in a case involving Baloch students who went missing. He continued by saying that the southwest province was the scene of an armed conflict for the administration.

According to him, the matter concerning forced disappearances is being addressed in compliance with the law and the Constitution. The prime minister stated that neither the government nor common people could pick up arms, adding that it is the duty of the state to protect its inhabitants. He claimed that the state ought to take a different tack when dealing with those who engage in armed conflict. The court is not requesting the protection of non-state actors, according to Justice Mohsin Akhtar. He admitted that these kinds of elements are being opposed by institutions and the military forces.

He claimed that although paramilitary groups and other organizations are charged with being involved in cases of disappearance, no one spoke out in favor of human rights when such non-state actors burned people alive in a bus on a Balochistani coastal highway and killed people deliberately from other provinces.

He made it clear that those advocating for missing people were not interested in finding a solution. The prime minister once stated that 5,000 people are missing, according to the families and representatives. He continued by saying that the system has several shortcomings.

According to Justice Kayani, there hasn’t been an official declaration in the previous 24 months indicating that someone is in CTD custody. He asserted that the state’s inability to prosecute them was a failure and that the law must be obeyed. Recall that the premier had been summoned by IHC for a third time after missing the first two hearings despite being given notice.
