Karachi records the coldest night of 2024, with temperatures dropping to 12°C

Karachi’s weather may become colder in the next 2 to 4 days, with a minimum temperature of 10°C, according to the chief meteorologist.

Today (Wednesday), the temperature in Karachi dropped to 12 degrees Celsius, making it the coldest night of the winter season.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicts cold and dry weather in the metropolis over the next 24 hours.

The Met Office predicts that the mercury will drop as low as 10 to 12°C in the coming days, while the maximum temperature will rise to 25 to 27°C.

The humidity was reported at 60%, and winds were blowing from the northeast at 3 km/h.

According to chief meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz, the lowest temperature of the winter season has been recorded in December at 11.5 degrees Celsius.

Last year, on January 14, the temperature in the port city dropped to 6°C, according to the chief meteorologist.

He added that the weather in Karachi could get colder in the next three to four days, with a minimum temperature of 10°C. Sarfaraz also stated that the cold would last for the next two to three weeks.

In addition, the chief meteorologist stated that the weather was not as cold this winter.

According to a recent report from the EU’s climate service, 2023 will officially be the hottest year on record, surpassing previous temperatures by approximately 1.48°C.

From July onwards, nearly every day saw a new global air temperature record, resulting in an exceptional and prolonged period of warmth.
