PPP will not get in touch with independent candidates backed by PTI, Khursheed Shah

ISLAMABAD: Syed Khursheed Shah, leader of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), declared on Tuesday that his organization will not support independent candidates endorsed by the PTI in order to strengthen its position in the National Assembly.

Shah encouraged political parties not to include independent candidates endorsed by the PTI and emphasized the need of respecting the people’s will in the wake of the general elections in 2024.

“PPP has no desire to take others’ mandates in order to expand its own.” In response to a query, the former federal minister stated that Nawaz Sharif was not ethically deserving of becoming prime minister for a fourth time because he had lost the election.

For the benefit of the nation’s improvement, the PPP leader called all the parties to discussions following the election’s split mandate. Five independent candidates who became victorious in the February 8 elections became members of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Monday.

Details reveal that after meeting with PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif, Sardar Shamsher Mazari, who had run as an independent and won the NA-189 seat, joined the party.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz was joined by Imran Akram, MPA-elect from PP-195, Sohail Khan, PP-240, Khizar Hussain Mazari, PP-297, and Sahibzada Muhammad Gazain Abbasi, MPA-elect from PP-249.
