KP govt announces wheat procurement policy & rate 2026

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced the Hybrid Wheat Procurement Policy 2026. Under which, for the first time, the private sector has also been included in wheat procurement.

According to the official document, the government will maintain a strategic wheat stock of 530,000 metric tons. While a part of the wheat procurement will be done through private aggregators.

According to the policy, two-thirds of the wheat will be purchased at the government level while one-third will be purchased by private aggregators. The temporary support price of wheat has been fixed at Rs 3,500 per 40 kg.

The document states that Rs 32 billion has been allocated for government procurement while Rs 16 billion has been allocated for the private sector. Private aggregators will be provided with up to 70 percent mark-up support and they will be selected through a transparent tender.

According to the government policy, all payments will be made through banking channels. While a digital system will also be introduced to monitor the wheat stock.
