Man accused of killing Indian spy Sarabjit Singh injured in Lahore attack

LAHORE: Amir Sarfraz alias Tamba, accused of attacking Indian terrorist Sarabjit Singh in the jail was injured by firing in Lahore on Sunday.

According to the FIR report registered at the Islampura Police Station stated that Amir Sarfraz was seriously injured by unidentified motorcyclists in the Islampura area of Lahore.

The first information report was registered on the complaint of the victim’s brother under Section 324 of the Pakistan Penal Code. After the incident, a heavy contingent of police reached the scene and cordoned off the area.

According to the police complaint, one of the attackers was wearing a helmet while the other was wearing a mask.

According to the police, in 2013, two inmates of Kot Lakhpat Jail, Amir Tamba, and Mudassar, were accused of attacking Indian spy Sarabjit Singh who later died of his injuries in the hospital.

It should be remembered that in December 2018, Additional District and Sessions Judge Moin Khokhar of Session Court Lahore had acquitted two accused Amir Tamba and Mudassar Munir involved in the murder case of Indian spy prisoner Sarabjit Singh in Central Jail, Kot Lakhpat.

The court had decided the case in favor of the accused after the defection of all the witnesses. The two were accused of killing the Indian spy in captivity by attacking him with bricks and iron rods on April 26, 2013. At the time of the incident, the accused were in jail after their conviction in another criminal case.

Sarbjit Singh was accused of crossing the border into Pakistan on August 29, 1990, and carrying out bomb blasts in Lahore, Multan, and Faisalabad, and was later sentenced to death in 1991.
