LAHORE: In view of security concerns during Muharram, the Punjab government has taken an important decision regarding public transport and announced the temporary suspension of metro bus, electric bus and speedo bus services on 9th and 10th Muharram.

The aim of this decision is to maintain law and order during processions and gatherings and ensure the safety of citizens.

According to the Punjab Mass Transit Authority, all relevant bus services operating in Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi will remain closed during 9th and 10th Muharram.

Officials say that the decision to suspend bus services has been taken in view of the recommendations of security agencies and the sensitive situation.

On the other hand, the Punjab Police has completed the strictest security arrangements for the processions and gatherings of Muharram across the province.

Additional personnel have been deployed in important cities, while sensitive places are being monitored with the help of CCTV cameras and modern technology.

According to police officials, special checking arrangements have been made on the routes of the processions and quick response teams will also be on alert to deal with any untoward incident.

Citizens have been appealed to cooperate with security agencies and make alternative travel arrangements in advance.
