LAHORE: Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir took back his retirement from international cricket on Sunday and announced his availability to represent Pakistan in the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.
After Imad Wasim, cricket Mohammad Amir also renounced his retirement decision following positive discussions with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) ahead of the T20 World Cup, scheduled for June 2 in the USA and the West Indies.
After announcing their availability to play for Pakistan, all-rounder Imad Wasim and fast bowler Mohammad Amir have been inducted in the 29-player squad, set to undergo a fitness camp in collaboration with the Pakistan Army at Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) in Kakul.
Taking on a micro-blogging site X, he said, “I still dream of playing for Pakistan.” After discussing with family and we’ll wishers I declare that I am available to be considered for the upcoming t20 WC, he wrote on X.

Furthermore, he added, “Life brings us to the points where at times we have to reconsider our decisions. There have been a few positive discussions between myself and the PCB where they respectfully made me feel that I was needed and can still play for Pakistan.”
“I want to do this for my country as it comes before my personal decisions. Donning the green jersey and serving my country has always been, and will continue to be my greatest aspirations,” he said on X.
Mohammad Amir, 31, took his retirement from international cricket in 2020 following issues with the then-PPCB management but has now made himself available and is likely to be selected for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024.
Amir has represented Pakistan in 36 Tests, 61 ODIs, and 50 T20Is. He last played an international match in 2020. The pacer was also part of Pakistan’s winning team in the ICC T20 World Cup 2009 and ICC Champions Trophy 2017.
