Murad Ali Shah elected as Chief Minister Sindh for third time

Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) candidate Murad Ali Shah was elected as the chief minister of Sindh for the third consecutive time on Monday.

Newly-elected Speaker Syed Awais Qadir Shah presided over the session to elect the new Leader of the House amid a boycott by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI).

Pakistan Peoples Party backed Syed Murad Ali Shah secured 112 votes, while Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan’s (MQM-P) Ali Khursheedi bagged 36 voters during a secret balloting.

Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz

Earlier today, the Punjab Assembly elected Maryam Nawaz Sharif as Chief Minister of Punjab after SIC members boycotted the assembly session and walked out of the house.

After her first speech at the provincial assembly, Maryam Nawaz moved to the governor’s house for an oath-taking ceremony where Governor Punjab Muhammad Baligh-ur-Rehman administered the oath.
