ISLAMABAD: In honor of Kashmir Solidarity Day, Pakistan’s interim government has declared February 5, 2024, a public holiday.
A one-minute silence will be held on February 5 at 10 am in remembrance of the Kashmiri martyrs, according to a notification released by the Interior Division on Friday.
Every year on February 5, people mark Kashmir Day to show support for those who have been displaced by Indian-occupied Kashmir in their fight for independence.
Kashmir Day, also known as Kashmir Solidarity Day, emerged to show support for the Himalayan region’s people who are subject to the dictatorial government of India.
On Kashmir Day, various protests, lectures, gatherings, and prayers are held in favor of the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination and to draw attention to the region’s breaches of human rights.
