PCB chairman dissolves selection committee ahead of T20 World Cup

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) dissolved the national team’s current selection committee led by former fast bowler Wahab Riaz on Sunday.

According to the details, the new National Cricket Selection Committee will be notified soon. The development comes a day after Chairman PCB Moshin Naqvi met Wahab Riaz to discuss team selection for the upcoming New Zealand series.

The Pakistan Cricket Board spokesperson said that the new selection committee will be further empowered with full authority for the selection process of the national cricket team. A news report from Saturday also indicated that Naqvi was seemingly involved in the details of which player was to be selected for the team.

According to sources, the selection committee would be held accountable for their decisions. Within a week, a decision would be taken regarding chief selector Wahab Riaz and others.

Chief Selector Wahab Riaz had been appointed by former Chairman Zaka Ashraf while also holding the office of Punjab’s interim sports minister. Furthermore, Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board Mohsin Naqvi announced that PCB is working on the matter related to national team coaches and will appoint a new head coach within one week.
