Newly elected Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif today extended Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu’s tenure by one year.
The prime minister has sent the summary to President Asif Ali Zardari on the Air Chief Marshal’s extension and awarded it following his permission, sources said.
Zaheer Babar is a four-star Air Force officer and the 16th Chief of Air Staff. On March 19, 2021, he took over command of the Air Force from his predecessor, ACM Mujahid Anwar Khan.

CAS Zaheer was set to retire tomorrow (Monday) after the completion of this three-year tenure as the Chief of Air Staff post.
Air Chief Zaheer Babr met with PM Shehbaz Sharif on Monday to discuss subjects of national importance.
The CAS congratulated Prime Minister Shehbaz on assuming the office, a PM Office press release said. In the meeting, they discussed the professional matters of the Pakistan Air Force.
