According to sources, disagreements over tickets for the upcoming elections have arisen between Sheikh Rohail, Sadiq, and other party leaders.

LAHORE: The Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) is in a bind after two of its heavyweights fell out over party tickets for the upcoming elections on February 8, The News reported on Wednesday, citing sources.

As a result, the party has not yet resolved the dispute between these party leaders over the distribution of tickets in some of the constituencies where they wish to run for office.

Nawaz Sharif, the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), presided over a meeting of his party’s leaders on Tuesday at his Jati Umrah residence, where discussions were held to discuss differences between those fighting for tickets in specific constituencies.

According to sources, the meeting held consultations on the issue of ticket distribution in general elections for the second day but failed to reach a conclusion.

According to the sources, efforts were made to reconcile party leaders such as Ayaz Sadiq, Sheikh Rohail Asghar, and Talal Chaudhry.

According to sources, Asghar wants to run from NA-121 and flatly refused to withdraw his papers in favor of Sadiq at the last party meeting.

According to sources, Sadiq has received support from 12 union council chairmen from NA-121, who has also submitted nomination papers from NA-119 and NA-117.

Similarly, differences emerged between Talal Chaudhry and Nawab Sher Wasir over NA-96 Jaranwala, according to sources, who added that separate strong groups in the PML-N supported Chaudhry and Sher Wasir.

According to sources, the PML-N meeting also discussed seat adjustment with the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP). They claimed that the party leadership was ready to give IPP one National Assembly seat and two provincial assembly seats in Lahore, but some objected.

Meanwhile, sources claim that the dispute between Ahsan Iqbal and Daniyal Aziz remains unresolved, despite the fact that the former filed nomination papers in PP-54 and PP-54 Narowal.

These seats are in NA-75, where Daniyal Aziz was running for office and wanted party tickets for these two provincial assembly seats for his blue-eyed candidates.
