Punjab and Sindh Assemblies will elect their new Chief Ministers as assembly members will cast their votes for the post in their session today (Monday).
In Punjab, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) Maryam Nawaz and Sunni Ittehad Council’s Rana Aftab are the nominees for the slot.
PML-N submitted the nomination papers of Maryam Nawaz to the Secretary of the Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Aamir Habib.

The nomination papers of Rana Aftab Ahmed, the nominated candidate of Sunni Ittehad Council, were also submitted. Later, the Speaker Punjab Assembly Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan examined the papers and after scrutiny, the papers of both candidates were declared valid as per the rules and regulations.
In Sindh, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has nominated former Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah once again for the slot of Chief Minister while MQM has nominated Ali Khursheedi for the position.
Peoples Party candidate Murad Ali Shah’s nomination papers have been submitted by PPP leaders Ghulam Qadir Chandio, Naeem Kharal, and others while MQM-Pakistan candidate Ali Khursheedi submitted his nomination papers himself.
After the Sindh Assembly session yesterday, Chief Minister-designate Murad Ali Shah also contacted the members supported by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to vote for the post of Chief Minister.
