Rohit Sharma breaks De Villiers’ record for most sixes in a year

Indian captain Rohit Sharma has created history by hitting the most sixes in a year.

Rohit Sharma broke this record in the ICC ODI World Cup match against Netherlands, which was previously held by former South African star batsman AB de Villiers who hit the most sixes in 2015. The number of sixes he scored was 58.

Now Rohit got the honor by hitting 2 sixes in the match against Netherlands, he hit 60 sixes this year while there is still a month and a half left of this year.

Rohit scored 61 runs in this match with the help of 8 fours and 2 sixes in just 54 balls, with the first six of the match off the ball of Colin Ackerman, Rohit Sharma hit the history of most sixes in one calendar year of ODI cricket.

The record was previously held by West Indies’ Chris Gayle who hit 56 sixes in a calendar year (2019) before AB de Villiers, while Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi hit 48 sixes in 2002.
