Section 144 enforced in Islamabad ahead of PTI protest call

Islamabad police today enforced Section 144 in the federal capital to avoid any law and order situation after PTI called the countrywide peaceful protest.

Federal capital police in a statement said, no illegal gathering is allowed in Islamabad. Peaceful protest is the fundamental right of everyone but any illegal act will not be allowed, it added.

Furthermore, authorities stated that legal action will be taken against those who behave violently or instigate violence. Report any illegal activity on “Pukaar 15” or “ICT 15 app”.

Yesterday, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) announced a nationwide peaceful protest demonstration on Saturday against alleged rigging in the general election 2024.

PTI leaders also invited other political parties, including Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s JUI-F, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan (TLP), Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA), Awami National Party, and others to join the protest for electoral irregularities, democracy, and rule of law.
