TEHRAN: Spain has announced the reopening of its embassy in Iran, which is being described as a significant step towards the restoration of diplomatic activities in the region.
Speaking to reporters, Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albarres said that he has instructed his ambassador in Tehran to immediately assume his duties in Iran and reactivate the embassy. According to him, this move is part of efforts to promote peace and diplomatic relations in the region.
The Foreign Minister said that Spain wants to play its role in establishing world peace in every possible way and the restoration of diplomatic relations with Iran is a link in this chain.
He also expressed the hope that this move will also attract other countries towards positive diplomatic steps.
It should be noted that Spain had previously withdrawn its embassy staff due to security concerns in Tehran. At that time, the situation in Iran had become tense due to US and Israeli air strikes, after which many countries had limited or suspended their diplomatic missions.
This decision by Spain is an indication that the situation in Iran is improving to some extent and the international community is moving towards restoring diplomatic relations.
