The Health Ministry declares a reduction in the cost of prescription drugs

The Ministry of Health has formally announced a large drop in the cost of emergency pharmaceuticals in an effort to make vital medications more widely available.

The Cabinet’s approval, which is an essential first step in this endeavor, shows how committed the government is to making healthcare more affordable.

The initiative’s main proponent, Health Minister Nadeem Jan, stressed that the lower costs are intended especially for medications that intensive care unit (ICU) patients require.

Notably, there is a significant price reduction of 55–65% for the medication Colistimethate Sodium.

Minister Nadeem Jan dissected the numbers and emphasized the remarkable pricing adjustments. A one million unit injection used to cost Rs 2987, but today it only costs Rs 1036. Likewise, the 2 million unit injection, which was formerly priced at Rs 4564, is currently offered for Rs 1737. The 3 million unit injection is now only going to cost Rs 2591 instead of Rs 5855.

Minister Nadeem Jan declared his unwavering resolve to help those in need, despite the difficult times. Assuring the public that the government is committed to safeguarding the safety and authenticity of medical supplies, he reaffirmed the crackdown on bogus and unregistered pharmaceuticals.

It is anticipated that this announcement would provide patients and their families with much-needed relief, which will be a step in the right direction toward improved healthcare accessible during these difficult times.
