LAHORE/KARACHI: Throughout the night of Friday and Saturday, fog continued to engulf the plains regions of Punjab and Sindh, including Lahore, impeding daily activities and causing traffic jams.
In several cities, the dense fog has significantly impacted the flow of traffic on the roads. All routes have been closed to traffic of any kind, including Motorway M2 from Lahore to Kot Momin, Lahore-Multan Motorway M3 from Faizpur to Darkhana, Motorway M4 from Abdul Hakeem to Faisalabad, and Motorway M5 from Shershah to Rohri.

The drivers have been urged by the motorway police to travel on Grand Trunk (GT) Road. Additionally, they have advised drivers to turn on their fog lights and drive slowly.
Additionally, the motorway police have asked everyone to stay at home and refrain from making needless trips. Due to poor visibility, dense fog has also caused traffic disruptions at various locations along the province’s National Highway.

Karachi, on the other hand, is experiencing dry weather with colder nights, and the met department is predicting more of the same for the next 24 hours.
The city’s minimum temperature was recorded at 16.5 degrees Celsius, and the weather service predicted that the maximum temperature would likely stay between 28 and 30 degrees Celsius.
Health experts had earlier called Karachi’s air quality “very unhealthy” and recommended residents to limit their time outside, particularly during the hours when pollution is at its worst.
Even though the air in Karachi is filtered by southwest winds coming from the sea, these winds are mostly suspended in the winter. – INP
