Turkey to overtake France as the most Popular Tourist Destination

Turkey is poised to overtake France as the most popular tourist destination.

According to foreign media, Turkey has become the second most popular holiday destination after France and Spain because of its borders with Europe and Asia.

It has seen a phenomenal 70% increase in tourists compared to pre-corona, with 44.6 million tourists visiting Turkey in 2022.

 

According to figures from tourism organizations WTM and Tourism Economics, the number is set to reach 50 million tourists in 2023. Turkey is known for its beauty.

In addition, Turkey welcomed 1.2 million medical tourists in 2022 and 746,290 have already arrived in the first half of 2023.

Turkey tops the list of treatments for hair transplantation and cosmetic dentistry, followed by laser eye correction and weight loss surgery.

According to the Turkish Dental Association, up to 250,000 foreign patients visit Turkey for cosmetic dentistry each year. Istanbul received more than 1.7 million tourists in August alone, which is particularly popular with men seeking hair transplantation.

According to the Association of British Travel Agents, Turkey is becoming increasingly popular with British tourists and is now the eighth most visited destination.

The Foreign Office said that more than 25 British citizens who went to Turkey for treatment since January 2019 have died.
