LAHORE: On Thursday, former senator Faisal Vawda said that PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif’s acquittal demonstrated that he had received “unfair treatment” in the past. He also said that they “wholeheartedly” accepted the former premier’s exoneration in legal proceedings.
In an interview with a private television network, the former senator asked what steps would be taken now that Nawaz has been freed to punish those who had earlier found him guilty.
He questioned what would happen if it turned out that the decision regarding the PML-N supremo’s fate was incorrect.
Regarding the PPP’s plea for the supreme court to hear Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s hanging case, Vawda stated that history had established that the hanging of the PPP’s founder constituted a judicial murder.
He enquired as to the punishment that would be inflicted on those who had issued the order to execute Bhutto.
The former senator questioned what law allowed the courts to open at midnight to consider a vote of no confidence against the premier during Imran Khan’s administration.
He also questioned the legal basis for Asif Zardari’s imprisonment as the co-chair of the PPP and the fate of the individuals who gave the order to demolish Karachi’s Nasla Tower.
He asked them to reconsider their vacation plans in light of the thousands of unresolved cases of the impoverished that are still pending.
