According to the organization, Hania will play an important role in spreading awareness for women’s rights, equality, and empowerment.

In a statement released on the social networking website Instagram, UN Women Pakistan said that UN Women Pakistan welcomes Hania Amir as a Goodwill Ambassador.

The statement said that renowned actress Hania Amir will use her platform to empower, raise awareness and inspire women and girls across Pakistan.

Hania Amir called equality and empowerment for women a top priority, saying that every girl should have the right to fulfill her dreams.

Ania Amir is the second Pakistani to receive this honor, as previously Muniba Mazari was appointed as a UN Women Goodwill Ambassador in 2015.

Hania is the third woman and fourth person overall in South Asia, where, apart from Mazari, former Indian tennis star Sania Mirza and Bollywood filmmaker and actor Farhan Akhtar are also on the list.

Among the global women’s goodwill ambassadors, Hollywood actresses Emma Watson, Nicole Kidman, and Anne Hathaway have been given this honor.

Several Pakistani personalities have also been appointed as goodwill ambassadors in other UN organizations, including famous actor Fawad Khan, who has been appointed as the UN Development Program’s Goodwill Ambassador, and Shahzad Roy, who has been appointed as the UN’s Goodwill Ambassador for Drugs and Crime.

Pakistani actresses Mahira Khan and Saba Qamar are also included in the list of goodwill ambassadors, who have been appointed as ambassadors for the UN Refugee Agency and the children’s agency UNICEF, respectively.

It should be remembered that a few days ago, Hania Amir was undergoing treatment for ill health during an award ceremony in the US city of Houston, but she is now recovering.
