ISLAMABAD: Renowned writer Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar, in a recent interview, has made headlines for marrying actor Faysal Qureshi’s ex-wife just months after his kidnapping and sex tape scandal.

Khalil appeared on a podcast with journalist Irshad Bhatti where he broke his silence for the first time about his marriage to Faysal Qureshi’s ex-wife, with whom Faysal has a daughter, Haneesh Qureshi.

Despite the rumours circulating at the time, the controversial writer denied any connection between his hit drama Mere Paas Tum Ho and his personal life. He clarified that the drama is not inspired by his own experiences and stressed his close friendship with Faysal Qureshi.

He mentioned fighting for Faysal during the latter’s struggle. Khalil further addressed the divorce between Faysal and his ex-wife, saying that it had nothing to do with him. He explained that he had tried to mediate and save the marriage, but Faysal ‘s mother told him that the divorce was inevitable, only delayed by his efforts.

On the buzz about Faysal ‘s marriage to his ex-wife, Qamar said that this was not the reason for their separation and explained that he was not financially well off at the time and questioned why a woman would leave her marriage for him. He added that he did not know Faysal ‘s ex-wife well before their marriage, having only met her a few times, and stressed that their marriage was separate from Faysal ‘s relationship problems.
