ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s famous drama serial Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum in the headlines, but this time Hania Aamir and Fahad Mustafa’s show showed allegations of art theft.
The play was praised not only for Pakistan but also for its charming characters and great stories across the border, but a social media post of the artist raised questions about his success.
Episode 17 of the ARY drama shows an Arts Festival, when actors are reviewing the art gallery and discussing paintings in the display. The artwork featured in this episode is the focus of disputes.
Artist Saifi Soomro went on Facebook to describe his trial on how his stolen paintings were used in the show. Soomro had actually exhibited this art as part of his thesis project in the Freer Hall in Karachi, shortly afterwards, the paintings were reported to be theft, and Soomro now found out that he was in the drama series.
The post reacted thousands, as people advised Soomro to take legal action against Freer Hall.
The shocking revelations have also raised questions about the moral reservations in the accountability of art and the entertainment industry.
