LAHORE: YouTuber Rajab Butt has landed in another predicament as the National Cyber Crime Agency (NCCA) summoned the social media star on charges of blasphemy and uploading derogatory content on his social media platforms.

Reports said that Rajab Butt has been issued a legal notice under Section 160 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), directing him to appear before the agency at 11:00 am tomorrow to assist in the ongoing investigation. The notice has been formally delivered to his residence, citing the need for his involvement in the inquiry process.

The investigation came after a public backlash on social media, when Butt allegedly used derogatory language about respected Islamic figures in a blog post posted during the holy month of Muharram.

The content sparked outrage and prompted Darul Ifta Lahore to issue a religious edict (fatwa), urging the registration of an FIR against him and demanding government action, including shutting down his social media accounts and banning him from appearing on the media.

Legal experts confirm that failure to comply with the summons could lead to further legal consequences, as attendance is mandatory when summoned for investigative assistance under Section 160.

This is not the first time Rajab Butt has faced criticism over religious sensitivities. In a previous controversy, he reacted to the launch of a perfume called “295”, which was seen as a reference to Pakistan’s blasphemy laws. As the NCCA continues its investigation, more developments are expected in the coming days.
