KARACHI: Famous singer, Asim Azhar, has confirmed a breakup with actress Meerub, asking people to respect their privacy and understanding as they go through what they called joint and amicable decision.

The Jo Tu Na Mila singer revealed that after lot of consideration and introspection,” the pair has decided to end their relationship in a late-night Instagram story on Wednesday.

Merub and I have decided to go on different paths amicably and mutually,” the singer posted. Although we had special  moments and truly longed for a future together, life has a way of unfolding by itself at times.

The message went on to sayWe have a great deal of respect for one another and the parties involved, and always will. We respectfully request your discretion and privacy at this time, and hope it is received with the same courtesy with which it is being extended.”

The news was revealed over two years after the couple got engaged in March 2022. Their engagement was marked by a close family ceremony, and news of it was shared through synchronized Instagram posts.

At the time, both Asim and Merub shared the same photos of the ceremony — one was the singer in a white shalwar kameez admiring Merub, who had a small gift in her hands.
In another photo, Merub, who was dressed in a long traditional shirt and trousers, was spotted putting a ring on Asims finger.

Though the couple had kept a quite low profile about their private relationship, they were frequently together at functions and had publicly endorsed each other’s business pursuits.
