SKARDU: Renowned Pakistani singer Quratul Ain Baloch was injured in a brown bear attack in Deosai National Park.
The attack occurred near the Bara Pani area, a popular tourist destination within the park known for its breathtaking scenery.
QB and her companions were in a camp when a brown bear suddenly attacked. Reports indicate the bear mauled her, causing severe injuries to just her arms.
Muhammad Ibrahim John, her driver, Shahbaz, her photographer & other locals present at the scene bravely intervened to fend off the bear, saving her life. She was given initial first aid on the spot.
The driver swiftly transported her to the DHQ hospital in Skardu for emergency treatment.
After thorough examination, she has been discharged, and she is stable now.
Deosai National Park is a protected habitat for the Himalayan brown bear. The incident prompted authorities to reiterate safety guidelines for visitors to Deosai and other wildlife areas.
Deosai National Park is one of the highest-altitude plateaus in the world and is a critical conservation area for the endangered Himalayan brown bear. While encounters are uncommon, this tragic event served as a stark reminder that visitors must be extremely cautious and respectful of the wild nature of these habitats.
