GILGIT BALTISTAN: At the mere age of a few years, Gilgit-Baltistan’s Muhammad Shiraz has achieved something most adults can only hope for changing his community for the better.

The YouTuber, whose heart he initially captured by allowing people glimpses of his daily life and the stunning culture of Baltistan through social media, has now utilized his increasing popularity as a lifeline for his village.

Having used the money he earned from social media to transform an old school into a new educational facility, Shiraz has now introduced another endeavor a free ambulance service for his people.

In a video posted on his Instagram ID, having two million followers, Shiraz gave reasons why he had felt obliged to take action. “There isn’t any decent hospital in our village. For medical treatment, people have to go one to two hours to the city.

It is tough, costly, and even life-threatening at times,” he told us, mentioning that during childbirth, women get hurt, whereas during winters, heavy snowfall and freezing temperatures make life particularly difficult for children, women, and old people.

“Under such situations, even making arrangements for a vehicle in emergencies is out of the question. That is why I purchased an ambulance for my village, so that children, women, and the elderly can travel to hospitals on time during emergencies.”

The service, provided free of cost, will help save thousands of lives in a region where a simple health emergency can turn into a tragedy overnight due to the unavailability of medical care.

Only three days ago, he posted another video highlighting the way in which, with his father and with invaluable assistance from two foreign Pakistanis, he had rebuilt a village school.

The video, which received 214k likes and about 8,000 comments, first presented the poor condition of the school where kids sat without chairs in the open air, classrooms were untidy, and the entire learning environment was less than desirable.

The video demonstrates Sheraz’s father, Muhammad Taqi, presenting the refurbished institution, a renovated school building with proper classrooms, a playground, and swings for kids.

“Everyone asks me what I achieved through social media. We converted a dilapidated village school into one that is state of the art,” Shiraz captioned the video.

In another clip, the vlogger youngster disclosed that overseas Pakistanis helped them finish the school project.

Our school was in great need. Children didn’t even have a secure environment to study. That’s when two expatriate Pakistanis, Fauzia Zaki and her niece Zehra Zaidi, intervened.

In honor of their father and maternal grandfather, Capt. Mohammed Zaki, they didn’t merely repair the school, they constructed an entirely new one,” Shiraz said.

He said that now children study in a safe environment, and even Shahbaz Zaki, Capt Zaki’s grandson, teaches technology online all the way from the USA. Shiraz said that the duo also built a dam, installed pumps for clean drinking water, added solar panels, and provided essential health support with medicines and even an ambulance.

Besides this, the young vlogger also participated in relief work following last month’s floods. He donated cash and essentials
